Getting Advanced Metering Infrastructure Right: Unlocking Market Flexibility and Cybersecurity

October 16, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Advancement of the South African energy infrastructure landscape will be a critical factor in attracting investment and trade opportunities.
The South African–German Energy Partnership has commissioned the report Opportunities for Digitalisation in the South African Energy Sector, which identifies key opportunities for navigating the energy sector’s rapid shift toward decentralisation, digitalisation and decarbonisation. This webinar draws from the report’s insights, focusing on how Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) can unlock market flexibility, strengthen consumer engagement, and safeguard grid reliability. The session will unpack AMI’s role in a digital energy system, the critical importance of cybersecurity, and best practices for reliable implementation.
Participants will gain practical lessons on how to get AMI right — balancing innovation with security and unlocking opportunities for a more resilient and sustainable energy future. This is the first in a two-part series of webinars designed to disseminate the report’s findings and explore actionable opportunities for the energy sector.
