The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a landmark B-BBEE incentive managed under the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic). It is designed to incentivise the private sector to create 12-month quality work experiences for South African youth.
For organisations operating in South Africa – particularly multinationals and large enterprises that often face structural friction regarding the Ownership element on their B-BBEE scorecards – participating in a YES placement provides a powerful, recognized mechanism to boost B-BBEE scorecard performance by up to two full levels, while simultaneously building talent pipelines.
